【Notice No.52】NCHU Confirms Third Case of COVID-19

The third case of COVID-19 was confirmed in a staff on April 22nd, and the university has immediately collaborated with Taichung City Government to perform contact tracing. As soon as the staff noticed that a friend was tested positive on April 19th, he conducted home quarantine right away and had not entered the campus since Aril 20th; meanwhile being tested negative at the hospital. However, flu-like symptoms appeared on April 22nd, and the self-testing result was positive; one the same day, PCR test arranged by public health bureau showed a positive test result.

The university had collected all the information about the contact tracing and traveling history of the confirmed case once we were informed, disinfecting possible contaminated areas, including the workplace. In accordance with CECC’s latest “Self-reaction towards Covid-19 regarding confirmed cases and close contacts”, there are 4 close contacts listed by the health authorities, who are currently conducting home quarantine; the rest who are not listed as close contacts and contacts of those close contacts (classes, etc.) need to conduct 10 days of self-health monitoring, and when suspected symptoms appear, a rapid test should be taken.

Due to the surge in Covid-19 confirmed cases, namely thousands of people being test positive, please be reminded that you can protect yourself from being infected by having a complete vaccination and booster, staying at home if unwell, wearing a mask and cleaning your hands regularly.

If any of the suspected symptoms appear (e.g., fever, sore throat, respiratory complications, loss of smell or taste, or diarrhea), please wear a medical mask and seek medical attention immediately at a nearby hospital for COVID-19 testing and refrain from using any public transportation. When in the hospital for treatment, please inform the physician regarding your contact and travel history, potential occupational exposure to the virus, as well as anyone around you with similar symptoms. When returning home, please continue to wear a medical mask and avoid making any unnecessary trips.

Sincerely,
NCHU Epidemic Prevention Team
