【News】NCHU Invited International Students to Celebrated 104th Anniversary

The 104th Anniversary of National Chung Hsing University (NCHU)was held on 28th October, and international students were also invited to join and participate in various events.

131 international students from 26 different countries, including Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam, wore their national costumes to join the Athletics Parade during the 104th Anniversary of NCHU. These students proudly raised their national flags, showcasing their identity to NCHU.

A German student brought his leather breeches, a Bavarian Lederhosen, which were originally worn by the royal family and grenadier corps. As is the way with trends, Lederhosen is now a folk costume worn on many occasions. Furthermore, Bavarian Lederhosen is a symbol of togetherness among family members and is very durable to preserve.

In addition to the parade, the Office of International Affairs also organized the Fun Game to invite all international students to celebrate NCHU’s 104th birthday. This Fun Game consisted of 6 interesting games such as Sack Race, Cup Game and Music Chair. It was organized by Emujin Govi (Mongolian undergraduate student), the activity host Salman Akram (Pakistani Ph.D. student) and the hostess Nicha (Indian Ph.D. Student). Around 100 international students came together to join this event. Moreover, there were also prize quizzes to test their understanding of NCHU.

With the lifting of the COVID-19 restrictions in 2023, more international students are looking to study in Taiwan. In the 2023 Fall semester around 117 new international students from different countries such as the USA, France, Turkey, Thailand and Vietnam have come to NCHU to pursue their degrees. Furthermore, nearly 50 exchange students from partner universities such as Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München, Kasetsart University and Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology have also joined NCHU this semester.

In pursuit of enhancing international mobility and collaboration, with the sponsorship of the Higher Education SPROUT Project, the Office of International Affairs has dedicated itself to various projects, including inbound and outbound student exchanges, international volunteering programs, English-speaking Ability Workshops, and International Competence Seminars.
